The mission of the Urban League of Greater Miami, Inc. is simple: To encourage the conditions that creates success- for children, for families and for all citizens of the Liberty City neighborhood in Miami. Our motto, “Every child in Liberty City will grow up happy, healthy and successful”, encapsulates our vision of seeing the potential in every child. It challenges the adults at each point of contact in that child’s life: from their parents and families to their school teachers and elders, to help to make that success a reality. We have been successful because we accept nothing less than excellence from every person we serve, regardless of their economic or life circumstances. A strong commitment to excellence is exemplified by our services. From our affordable housing units to programs that embrace the core of our societal concerns, we are dedicated to the success of our communities. Our programs encourage personal responsibility and whole family growth; while helping women heads of household to meet the challenges of rearing healthy successful children. Excellence is at the root of all that we do at the Urban League of Greater Miami. This year, we will be celebrating 65 years of service to our community. In my 45 years of service to this organization, I have seen this community grow and change and it’s gratifying to know that the League’s efforts have been instrumental in making positive changes in the lives of so many people. We will continue to take action to ensure the continuous success and development of a prosperous and productive community. Without the generous support of our sponsors and Board and constant dedication of our staff, our mission wouldn’t be a reality. I thank you. And to our community- we are here.
