Achievement Matters is a coordinated, intensified and sustained effort to raise the achievement levels and strengthen the social skills of Black Americans and Urban youth in the Miami Dade County Public School System. It implements community education, mobilization and advocacy initiatives that support youth and hold policy-makers accountable for delivering schools and programs that work. Our programs include, Read & Rise, Pass Holmes Elementary School, Graduation & Retention, National Achievers Society, Financial Aid/College Enrichment Assistance, PSAT/SAT Test Camps, Scholarship/Mentorship Program and tutorials at Lincoln Fields. | Family Computer Learning Laboratory is a collaboration of various partners, including the Department of Housing & Urban Development, Miami Dade County Public School, Miami Dade Community College North Campus and State Farm Insurance Company. The lab supports learning through a series of educational initiatives tailored to combat illiteracy, enhance learning and initiate computer literacy. |
Rainbow Club Home Visiting Initiative is a health orientated, neighborhood outreach effort designed to improve the life chance factors for at-risk adolescent mothers and infants. The initiative offers individualized home contact with participants during pregnancy and for a period of twelve months following delivery. Sponsored by Our Kids of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties and the Fisher Island Philanthropic Foundation. |
79th Street Corridor Neighborhood Initiative, Inc. is an effort to transform Miami Dade County’s 79th Street Corridor from a fragment set of residential, commercial and industrial sites with a reputation as dangerous and undesirable into a cohesive neighborhood, conscious of its tangible and intangible assets and directing its future. The initiative is led by three local community based development organizations- ULGM, Miami Dade Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc, and Dade Employment Development Corporation- in partnership with the Center for Neighborhood Technology. |

ULGM/Economic Opportunity Family Health Center Asthma Intervention Relief Program provides valuable education and asthma management supplies to underserved families in the Liberty City area. Families enrolled in the program receive supplies to help monitor their child’s asthma. Counseling is also available.
